About the Word to Number Converter

The Word to Number Converter takes a written-out number like "two thousand five hundred and forty-three" and returns the digit form (2,543). Accountants writing cheques, legal-document drafters, bank-form fillers, language learners, and developers building voice-input apps all use this conversion every day. It also works in reverse — type a number and read its full English spelling out loud.

What the converter supports

Cardinal numbers (one, two, three), ordinal numbers (first, second, third), large numbers up to trillions, decimal fractions ("three point one four" → 3.14), negative numbers ("minus twenty" → -20), and mixed numerical phrases. The dictionary recognises both British and American conventions (one hundred and twenty vs one hundred twenty).

How to use it

  1. Type the words in the input box.
  2. The numeric equivalent appears instantly.
  3. Or type a number to see the full English spelling appear in reverse.
  4. Copy either result with one click.

Common use cases

Writing cheques where the amount must appear in both numeric and written form, drafting legal documents and contracts where amounts must be spelled out to avoid ambiguity, completing visa and immigration forms that require written numbers, building speech-recognition or voice-assistant apps that hear numbers in speech, teaching kids how large numbers are spelled, and proofreading invoices for consistency.

Privacy

Conversion runs entirely in your browser using a deterministic parser. No numbers, words, or any data are sent to our servers. The tool also works offline once the page is loaded.
