Format choices and when to use them

JPG for photos and rich-colour images (smallest file, lossy). PNG for screenshots, logos, and anything with transparency (lossless, larger). WebP for modern websites — 25–50% smaller than JPG/PNG with similar quality and supported by all current browsers. GIF for simple animations or where legacy compatibility matters. BMP for raw uncompressed work in specialist software. ICO for browser favicons.

How to use it
